The day starts in the magnificent Sibenik, which is the first destination we visit. Here you can admire the UNESCO world heritage listed Cathedral of St James; take a walk through this captivating town admiring its stone architecture and four fortresses.
After some time in Sibenik, we proceed to the Krka National Park where we will explore its major point of interest, the extraordinarily beautiful Skradinski Buk waterfall, one of the sites you absolutely must visit when in Croatia. During our walk, there will be a guided tour of Skradinski Buk and its numerous water mills and the award-winning ethno village. Later on, we have a several hours of free time and a rare opportunity to go swimming under the pristine Skradinski Buk waterfalls.
This is an opportunity that comes once in a lifetime and you do not want to miss it. Here you can also lap up the crystal clear Krka river waters and the Dalmatian sun or explore the travertine formations in the Skradinski Buk pools. Following this, our next destination is a scenic boat ride from Skradinski Buk to Skradin, where you will be met by a guide at the Skradin dock. Here you will have a chance to explore some of the local attractions and wrap up the day with sampling some of the delightful local wines, cheeses and the to-die-for prsut (dried ham). Skradin is a really charming town which embodies the essence of Dalmatia.
At the end of the Krka tour from Sibenik, you can be dropped off in either Sibenik or Split.
09:30 – 10:45 Šibenik & Saint James Cathedral – a guided tour
Here you will have an opportunity to experience picturesque Šibenik, the city of stone. You will enjoy a 45-minute guided tour of Šibenik’s old town and the not to be missed UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James with a licensed guide. What is interesting is that the cathedral of St James is unique to European architecture in that it is made of stone in its entirety. Šibenik’s narrow winding passages, stone stairways and houses will make you feel as though you have gone back in time. After the guided tour, there will be 45 minutes of free time to do some wandering on your own. A visit to St Michael’s fortress is our recommendation, which is perched above the old town, or you can go enjoy an ice-cream.
10:45 – 11:15 Short ride from Sibenik and arrival to Krka National Park
We will head to Krka National Park and there will be a brief stop at the entrance to the park where you will be able to use the restroom before entering the park itself with the shuttle bus.
11:30 – 12:30 Skradinski Buk – Guided Tour
Skradinski Buk is one of Croatia’s natural treasures and is the longest and most impressive waterfall on the Krka River. A licensed guide will take you on an exploration of this breathtaking cascading waterfall, the age-old water mills, rolling mills and washing columns where you will be able to marvel at the traditional folk architecture. What is more, your guide will show you the rich diversity of the Flora, 1022 recorded species, and the endemic, rare and threatened fauna of Krka National Park. After this, we are off to the “Golden Flower of Europe award” an award-winning Ethno village to explore the history of Skradinski Buk.
12:30 – 15:30 Enjoying the park – free time to go swimming and wandering through Krka National Park by yourself
This is a rare opportunity to swim in the crystal clear pools under the Skradinski Buk waterfall and scout it’s travertine formations. Don’t forget to bring your camera as this is an enchanting experience and something you will treasure long after you return home.
This is also a time to have a lunch in one of the many inexpensive restaurants in the National Park or walk one of the many trails through the National Park. It’s completely up to you.
15:30 – 16:00 Leaving Krka National Park and off to Skradin by a boat
Here you will have an opportunity to meander down a peaceful river taking in the scenic surrounds of the Krka National Park. Beautiful Krka River is best seen from a boat. Make sure to keep any eye out for the local swans along the way and beautiful scenery, all set in a completely natural environment. This is the time to lean back and reflect on your exciting day.
16:00 – 17:15 Guided tour of Skradin including a wine tasting
We now have a chance to explore an ancient town of Skradin as our guide will be waiting for our arrival at the dock. After we arrive, have in mind what Skradin Marina is one of the best looking marinas you have ever seen, with its 180 boat capacity. Skradin has a lengthy history and was once a Roman Municipality, ruled by the Venetians, and the Turks at different times in history. In the end, you will have a chance to taste some exquisite local wines, cheese and hams to finish your day in style.
