About Krka Waterfalls Tour From Split

Starting your day in Split we will head to our first destination, the superb Sibenik. Here you can walk through this charming city admiring its stone architecture, its 4 fortresses and of course the UNESCO world heritage listed Cathedral of St James.

From Sibenik, we head to the Krka National Park where we will explore its major attraction, the stunningly beautiful Skradinski Buk waterfall, one of Croatia’s absolute must visit sites. While here you will be provided with a guided tour of Skradinski Buk and its various water mills and award-winning ethno village.

Following this, you have a several of hours free time to take amazing pictures of the pristine Skradinski Buk waterfalls. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity you won’t want to miss. Here you can also explore the travertine formations in the Skradinski Buk pools and lap up the crystal clear Krka river waters and the Dalmatian sun.

Moving onto our next destination it’s a picturesque boat ride from Skradinski Buk to Skradin where your guide will be waiting for you at the Skradin dock. Skradin is a picture perfect town which embodies the essence of Dalmatia. Here you can chose to finish the day with sampling some of the delightful local wines in a gorgeously arranged wine garden (20€ additional payment) or you can spend 1,5 hour in Skradin, walking in the city or swimming on the beautiful beach.

Tour itinerary

07:45 –  Meet for the Krka waterfalls tour

Meeting point for the Krka waterfalls tour from Split is in front of the National theatre in Split (Address: Trg Gaje Bulata 1, 21000 Split).

08:00 – 09:30 Departure from Split to Šibenik city

We always take the fast highway to Šibenik and avoid the old coastal road, which is winding and often congested. The highway is also certainly more pleasant for the passengers in the vehicle.

09:30 – 11:00 Šibenik & Saint James Cathedral – Guided Tour

Here you will get a chance to experience idyllic Šibenik, the city of stone. Šibenik’s narrow winding streets, stone houses and stone stairways will make you feel as though you have stepped back in time. You will have a 45-minute tour of Šibenik’s old town and the not to be missed UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James with a licensed guide. Interestingly, the cathedral of St James is unique to European architecture in that it is made entirely from stone.

Following your guided tour, you will have 45 minutes free time to do some exploring of your own. We recommend a visit to St Michaels fortress which is perched above the old town – or grab an ice-cream.

11:00 – 11:30 Departure from Šibenik – Krka National Park

Now we make our way to Krka National Park where we will make a short stop at the park entrance where you can use the restroom before we enter the park with our tour vehicle.

11:30 – 12:15 Guided tour of national park Krka & Skradinski Buk

Skradinski Buk is one of Croatia’s natural treasures and is the longest and most impressive waterfall on the Krka River. Here your licensed guide will take you on a tour of this stunning cascading waterfall, the centuries old water mills, rolling mills and washing columns where you will see the traditional folk architecture.

From there it’s off to the “Golden Flower of Europe award” an award-winning Ethno village to learn about the history of Skradinski Buk. In addition, your guide will show you the rich diversity of the Flora, 1022 recorded species, and the endemic, rare and threatened fauna of Krka National Park.

12:30 – 14:30 Free time for lunch (optional) and exploring Krka Park

This is where you will get a rare opportunity to admire the crystal clear pools under the Skradinski Buk waterfall and explore its travertine formations. This is a magical experience and something you will always treasure long after you return home. Be sure to bring your camera along.

Take this time to grab some lunch from one of the many affordable restaurants in the National Park. In your free time, you may also want to explore the local area and walk one of the many trails through the National Park.  The choice is yours.

14:30 – 15:00 Departure from Krka National Park to Skradin by boat

There is nothing quite like meandering down a quiet river taking in the picturesque surrounds of the Krka National Park. Here you will get the chance to do so. The beauty of the Krka River is best seen from a boat with uninterrupted views. Along the way keep any eye out for the local swans, beautiful scenery, all set in a pristine natural environment. It’s the perfect time to sit back and reflect on your incredible day.

15:00 – 16:30 Wine tasting or free time in Skradin

Your guide will be waiting for your arrival at the dock in Skradin. Upon arrival, you will notice the Skradin Marina, with its 180 boat capacity, is one of the best looking marina’s you have ever seen. Skradin has a long history and was once a Roman Municipal, ruled by the Venetians, and the Turkish at different times in history. You can chose to spend an hour in the city or swimming on the beach or you can attend a wine tasting (extra cost 20€).

16:30 – 18:00 Return to Split
