About Private Krka Waterfalls Tour

History, nature and gastronomy – all enjoyable in one day without any rush through our organized private trip!. The Private Krka waterfalls tour will take you to the ancient city of Šibenik with its UNESCO World Heritage Site, to one of Croatia’s most impressive national parks and to the picturesque town of Skradin at the mouth of the Krka River.

Only a 90-minute drive away from Split you will find yourself in Šibenik, our first destination, the county capital and once the seat of the Croatian King. Here you will be able to admire one of the most significant UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Croatia, the Cathedral of St. James, to stroll along charming cobblestone streets and explore the city’s 4 fortresses. Your personal guide will give you a detailed insight of Šibenik’s history and magnificent stone architecture.

Next destination is the Krka National Park with its major attractions. Your personal tour guide will take you along the park’s highlights, the breathtaking waterfall Skradinski Buk, explain the operation of the ancient water mills and show you the award-winning ethno village.

After the guided tour inside the national park, you will have free time to enjoy the crystal clear Krka River below the thunderous waterfalls of Skradinski Buk, an experience that should not be missed! See at first hand the majestic travertine formations nature has created over the years and enjoy the warming sun of Dalmatia.

The day continues with a picturesque boat ride from Skradinski Buk to Skradin, our last destination. Your guide will be waiting for you at the pier in the centre of Skradin. Skradin or Scardona, as it was called in Roman times, represents the embodiment of a typical small and charming Dalmatian town.

Tour itinerary

08:15 – Meeting point in front of your accommodation or at the suggested address (Obala hrvatskog narodnog preporoda 23).

As “Krka waterfalls and Sibenik tour from Split” is a private tour customized to the wishes and needs of our guests, we would like to point out that all times of departure, return and the duration of stay in the respective destinations of this itinerary are flexible and subject to change upon the request of our clients.

08:30 – 10:00 Departure from Split to Šibenik

Although the old road to Šibenik is shorter in distance, we prefer to take our guests on the faster and more pleasant highway, since the old road runs along the coast and thus is very winding.

10:00 – 11:00 Private Guided Tour through the Sibenik city

Our guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a private guided tour through the historic center of Šibenik. The City of Stone, as it is often referred to, will take you back in time as you walk through the labyrinth of small and winding alleys, climb stairways and enjoy the idyllic scenery of old palaces, churches and stone houses.

During this 30-minute tour your personal licensed guide will explain you the most important highlights of Šibenik and take you inside the Cathedral of St James, the city’s major attraction that has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2000. Entirely made of stone, it perfectly blends the transition from the Gothic to the Renaissance period and is therefore a unique structure in European architecture.

After the private guided tour, you will have 30 minutes to discover more of the old city by yourself. Enjoy a refreshing drink or ice-cream at the seafront promenade or climb up to the Fortress of St. Michael that rises above Šibenik for spectacular views.

11:00 – 11:30 Departure from Šibenik & Arrival at the Krka National Park

On our way to the Krka National Park, our guests will have a chance to hear more about the National Park and its history. At the park entrance, we will take a short break to use the restrooms before continuing into the park with our private tour vehicle.

11:30 – 12:30 Arrival and visit of famous waterfall Skradinski Buk

The private tour starts at Skradinski Buk, which is the longest and most impressive waterfall on the Krka River and one of the key attractions in the park. Your personal licensed guide will accompany you on this tour and provide you with interesting facts and figures on this natural phenomenon that is considered to be Croatia’s top valuable treasure of nature.

Your tour will continue on marked paths and bridges over breathtaking cascades, travertine barriers, islands and lakes to historic water mills, rolling mills and washing columns where you will see and hear more about traditional folk architecture. The latter is best represented by your next stop, the Skradinski buk Ethno Village, which received the “Golden Flower of Europe Award” in 2006. Here you will learn about the history of Skradinski Buk, the rich floral diversity of this area, including its 1022 recorded species, and get a deeper insight into Krka National Park’s endemic, rare and threatened fauna.

12:30 – 15:30 Free and fun time in the park

We recommend during these 3 hours of free time to further explore the Krka National Park on its many trails on your own or to simply enjoy the view of the crystal clear pools below the Skradinski Buk waterfall, where you will get the rare opportunity to witness its magnificent travertine formations. Don’t forget to bring a camera to capture this magical experience, as you will certainly treasure and remember it as one of the highlights of your holiday in Croatia. Take some time to rest and have lunch at one of the many restaurants located within the park that offer traditional, yet affordable local dishes.

15:30 – 16:00 Departure by boat from the Krka to Skradin

Enjoy the unique beautiful scenery and pristine natural landscape of the Krka River by slowly floating downstream to Skradin. Make sure to get a good spot on top of the boat to immerge into the beautiful scenery of the surrounding area. Along your ride, closely observe the local swans and other birds in their natural habitat and take time to relax and reflect on this incredible tour. The boat ride ends in the centre of Skradin with a spectacular view over one of the most beautiful marinas in central Dalmatia, ACI Marina Skradin, which has a capacity of 180 berths.

16:00 – 16:30 Guided Tour of  Skradin

Upon arrival at the pier in Skradin town, your personal guide will be waiting for you to take you on a private tour around the historic center of Skradin. On site, you will learn about the turbulent times the town has encountered over the course of centuries, from being an important Roman administrative and military center of the region, the seat of the powerful Bribir Šubić family in the Middle Ages, its occupation by the Ottoman Empire and rule by the Venetians at the end of the 18th century. Sites you will be visiting with your guide include the Belvedere and early medieval fortress of Ban Pavao Šubic, the Baroque Church of the Parturition of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Church of St. Spiridon.
