About Private Mostar Tour from Split

Our private day trip from Split to Mostar, Međugorje and Blagaj Tekke begins with our comfortable minivan picking you up at your accommodation in Split and then you will be on your way. Our first stop is Međugorje, which will take a little less than 3 hours. Međugorje was once a small wine making village which turned into a popular Catholic pilgrimage in the early 1980’s when the Virgin Mary appeared to some local children. Since that time the interest in Međugorje has grown exponentially, with thousands of visitors flocking to Međugorje each year. While in town be sure to climb Apparition Hill, the site where the children saw and communicated with the Virgin Mary, follow the stations of the cross up Kriz (cross) mountain and pay a visit to Church of St James.

From Međugorje, it’s a short ride to Mostar where you will see its most famous site the Stari Most bridge. Our guide will be waiting for you during your free time in Mostar after showing you the gem of Mostar Old Town – Stari Most bridge. The bridge was built in the 16th century and was considered one of the best examples of Ottoman architecture for that time. The bridge has been an important part of Mostar’s history for centuries, and the city itself was named after the bridge keepers, Mostari, who kept guard of the bridge.

During your free time you will have the chance to explore Mostar on your own. Use this time to take a lunch break and try some cevapcici at one of the local restaurants, sample strong Turkish coffee at one of the cafés that overlook the bridge and have your camera ready, so you can take a photo of one of the divers as they dive off the bridge into the Neretva River.

After our time in Mostar, we head to the nearby village of Blagaj to visit the mysterious Tekke Blagaj. Founded by a Dervish order in the 16th Century, the Tekke Blagaj is a place of worship which is performed by special ritual. The Tekke is located at the source of the Buna River, adding to its mystique. Restaurants line the river leading up to the Tekke which serves amazing grilled trout for anyone still feeling peckish.
